What is Wing Chun Kuen?
Wing Chun Kuen (詠春拳) is a Southern Chinese martial art that was said to have originated from a Shaolin Nun, named Ng Mui (五枚大师i). Ng Mui fled the destruction of the Northern Shaolin Temple in Henan by the army of Qing Emperor Kang Xi (1662-1722 A.D.), and lived a solitary life in Daliang Mountain. One day she watched a fight between a snake and a crane. She combined their movements with her Shaolin Kung-fu and passed down the art to her disciple, Yim Wing Chun (嚴詠春), whom the art was named after.

Sifu Bruce Cheng
Sifu Bruce Cheng (陳正信, Chèn Jēn Shín) was born in 1950 in Tainan City (southern Taiwan). Growing up was not easy for Bruce, he grew up in a temporary settlement village for soldier families and was continuously abused by the other children. Bruce reached a stage where his father could not bear to see him being abused anymore and advised him to take self defense classes. It was then, at the age of 12, that Bruce started his life-long practice of the martial arts. Read more »
Class Timetable
Our teaching method is rigorous but friendly and fun. We have many outstanding instructors who teach throughout the Auckland region. Classes are divided into four terms per year (following the New Zealand’s school calendar). The first class for a beginner is free of charge.
